Definite Decision

First of all, thanks a lot for all your comments. I had expected only 10 comments or so, at most, because nobody would want to read through that wall of text. Well I guess I was wrong!
I’m really, really, really glad that you are all so understanding. I can make a decision without feeling incredibly guilty now, and without regret. I have been thinking alot about what to do with One Piece. For one, the motivation to sub actually came back to me when I was reading your comments. I had no idea that people liked my subs THAT much. I thought everyone went with Yibis’ subs, but downloaded mine because those were a bit faster. Boy was I wrong. So many people are archiving my subs, I really had no idea. So I was really flattered and felt like subbing it again because of that.
So, thank you! All of you =).
Secondly, in spite of the small “motivation-boost” I got from that, I am afraid that it wasn’t enough. Well, maybe it was enough, but I think I should look at this realistically. I may be motivated now, but after a few weeks, that’ll be gone again. And I would again ponder about dropping One Piece. I don’t have the time to work on One Piece whenever I want now, because I have a job now. I have to work on Monday too, so subbing will have to be done on Tuesday. That won’t work. Our strength lied in the balance between speed and quality. We always released on Monday, and sometimes even on Sunday. But that will be gone then, and KubuSubs would’ve lost it meaning.
And now FUNimation is streaming their subs again, which I think is great. I know that we said that we’d continue subbing One Piece because of their IP block. But it’s possible to get their streams through Horrible-Subs, and I’m sure that someone will find a way to get through their security. And then there’s also Yibis. There’s enough quality subs available for One Piece right now.
So, to summarize it… Yes, I will drop One Piece. We won’t release any more episodes of One Piece, unless I find myself picking up the project again in the future. Thank you for all your comments, all your support and appreciation during these weeks that we’ve subbed One Piece.
And lastly, I’d like to thank the KubuSubs crew members that have been working with me to bring you 15 episodes of quality subbed One Piece.

Thanks SO much for everything, and I hope you will continue to support us with our other projects. We still have Chi and Dragon Ball Kai on the list, and I will work on them whenever I get the chance to. Chi will finish airing soon, and we’ll work hard on completing that project so we can move on to the next.
We are still definitely subbing Fairy Tail by the way! It’ll start on October 6, so look forward to it! I am going to try to finish up Chi before that, so we have enough time to work on Fairy Tail.

i liked your subs. high quality even at 400p. i dont like animecraze.net or whatever subs. their other branch; utcs or whatever is better than the main branch but still not good as yours.
yibis was 2nd place for me but now that you wont sub one piece, i guess ill have to rely on yibis though i will watch utcs first and keep yibis for quality.

I archive your DBK subs and my girlfriend and I love your Chi subs we have gone without them rather than watch the horrible ones put out by other groups! :) good luck with your job and classes and now I am looking forward to Fairy Tail!

Funimation. Or UTSF, for excellent translation quality. Or Yibis, for excellent video quality. I personally prefer video over sub, because I have a little bit of knowledge of japanese, so some unneeded things that get translated does not bother me much. Though, I’d recommend you to watch Funimation of UTSF first, cuz Yibis might lower your enjoyment. Don’t get me wrong, Yibis is great. But they got a bit… carried away, with the meaning of “subbing” and how everything should be translated.
Your subs were really excellent, some of the best around. I’m sad to hear you’re stopping. :( Good luck with your new job!

I support you in every way. I personally know how hard it is to stay committed to hobby projects, when real life interferes. Thank you for being there in the hours of our need. If those times come again, I’m sure you’re gonna pick up One Piece, and make us happy again.
I hope you finish with Chi soon, and continue doing whatever motivates you the most. And I, as one of the fans, will stop by to deliver that small amount of enthusiasm, that every creative person in the world needs.

I have been watching kubusubs One Piece since there was only ~3 eps released. The quality of your mkv subs is amazing and they even work without problems in gom player and vlc(unlike yibis releases). I also liked it when you always translated all japanese words like fruit names, nakama, shichibukai and other that kind of things that other sub groups left untranslated. It’s a bit sad to hear that you quit subbing it, but on the other hand I’m glad you’re picking up Fairy Tail.

I understand what you were talking about when you mentioned UTSF. They suck.. (they really do..) It’s like watching something that was subbed by 10 yr olds, so many errors!! A Jap subbing in engrish would be easier to understand. :((((

Hey, I posted in your release threads from the AP forums. I liked Kubusubs, I waited for Kubu’s releases and would skip over UTSF, thanks for subbing the series.
I hope that you quit subbing One Piece on good terms. Personal things happen, and that’s okay. However, as someone that has developed like a sort of ‘quitting’ problem, I can say that maybe you should try to finish the Amazon Lily Arc. It doesn’t matter if anyone downloads it, because from what I read you got sick, you lost motivation and were two episodes behind and you quit.
I’m not trying to judge or anything but you should pull through and finish what you start. In this case, set a deadline for yourself and say I’m going to finish OP at the Amazon Lily Arc. That way, when you think of OP you have good thoughts because even though you “dropped” the series you still finished something. And it doesn’t matter if anyone downloads it, it’s for your sake so you can say you pulled through your lack of motivation and did it. And that goes a long way for yourself, so the next time something happens to you and you’re in the middle of a commitment you just don’t quit. Again, this might not apply to you, but developing the habit of quitting in the middle of things is bad, as I said before try and set a general stopping point.
These are my thoughts, take care Kubus on whatever you decide to do and good luck.

Yeah, still working on it. Progress is going slow though, my schedule at work is a bit unstable right now so sometimes I have to work when I didn’t count on it, thus making me unable to work on fansubs.
I still hope to release most of Chi before Fairy Tail airs.
I’ll be working fulltime soon, though, so time for fansubbing may become even more scarce. Still looking for the best options~

I understand that things are difficult now… but i hope that when you go full time your ll manage to organize your free time more efficiently (because you ll probably have a steady work schedule~hope).
I would love to see fairy tail subbed from you! Although there is no reason to fastsub them because i thing gg will sub the series too. So catching with them in speed will be completely impossible!

There are several reasons for subing Fairy tail. First because everyone says that it has a lot of things in common with OP (her author and oda have been worked together in the past), also many characters are made with the same criteria like personality. Also the drawing stile looks like OP. so i thing anyone who likes OP will like FT.
Ok i have read only 5 or so chapters, but dont be a fool give FT anime a chance;)! And then criticize. Don’t tell her about shame she won’t mind… well i at least wouldn’t! :)
I’m up to date with manga, So I know of it’s quality. The first 50 chapters are average… after that the manga goes dratically down hill. (never picks up)
You’re right though, its her choice I’m just expressing my opinion.

oh i saw your update just now! Well then… no FT… but who cares? the anime series sucks Berry was right. The animation and vice acting is horrible! and the plot isn’t very nice either… not to mention that there isn’t a good group subing the series… Crunchyroll aka horriblesubs is the only choice!

Its my own opinion, but without One Piece (your main project), you can close the site.
Its next died site, Its like Dattebayo without Naruto!
I’m sure many people trusted you, I believed in this project too. You fail not just me, next time you should plan and think more about what you do. Start making real money, connect fun with work.
For example: get donations for membership… Of course you must have a lot of ppl.
It is just ANIME FANSUBBING. Don’t make it seem like Kubus own you something. We are just leechers, we have no right to say that she let us down etc., have fun with you own life.
All some people can do is nag nag nag, it seems. Don’t let that bother you too much.
You did a great job with your subs up until now, and even if you can’t go on, or have to step down in terms quantity or speed – it’s your choice, and most people will respect that. After all real life comes first, and hobbies such as your subbing activities are supposed to be fun, not something to make your life miserable.
Having said that, I do hope you might still find the time and – what’s more important – inspiration to continue sometime.
